OUTLAST Evaluation Workshop

The third workshop to evaluate the monitoring and forecasting products in OUTLAST was held online from 12-13 May 2025. It was part of the co-design process ensuring that the system developed in OUTLAST would be tailored to the needs of users, stakeholders and policymakers from multiple sectors around the world.

During the workshop, nearly 10 participants, who are representatives of national meteorological and hydrological services and ministries from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Kazakhstan, Germany and a regional organisation from East Africa, joined the OUTLAST team. Their objective was (1) to provide feedbacks on the performance of monitoring and forecasting products at regional and global scales, and (2) to discuss how the products can support the decision-making processes in their regions. The drought events in the recent years (2015-2023) were selected as basis information. In the discussion session, participants had the opportunity to express their opinions on (i) the added value of such a multi-sectoral monitoring and forecasting system at a global scale, and (ii) the improvements needed to enhance usage of OUTLAST products in their daily works.
