A meeting of UNESCO IHP region I members was held on 24–25 May 2016 at the International Centre for Water Resources and Global Change, hosted by the Federal Institute of Hydrology in Koblenz.

The agenda included reports from regional and international IHP and UNESCO Category 2 Centres, as well as national reports on IHP activities and priorities from water chairs, centres and national commissions.
As a result of the meeting several actions have been agreed upon, with the focus of increasing the attractiveness of IHP for individuals from the science sector and streamlining the international cooperation of individual IHP members on related projects.
