UN-Water Side Event auf UNFCCC COP24

The side event “The role of water in achieving climate neutrality”, organized by UN Water, presented and discussed the significance of freshwater for curbing climate change, its role in ecosystems, and for the livelihood of mankind. A multi-stakeholder panel underscored the central role of water in climate change by means of case studies from different sectors and across the globe. In his panel statement, Harald Köthe, Director of the ICWRGC, highlighted the need for a more integrated and preventive approach to providing reliable data, data products and tools in the water sector in the individual countries, also within the context of landscape planning and transformation.
